Is Beyonce faking a baby bump? Not likely

There have been some outrageous allegations swirling around Beyonce this week.

After making an appearance on Australia’s “Sunday Night HD” TV show, Beyonce’s baby bump seemed to oddly sag and then deflate as she sat down for her interview. Rumors that Beyonce was either leading people on to believe she is farther along than she is, or pretending to be pregnant altogether and wearing a prosthetic belly began circulating the Web. An even more bizarre conjecture is that she and husband Jay-Z had secretly hired a surrogate to carry their first child so she could keep her A-list body in shipshape.

Beyonce’s publicist has declared this outlandish speculation as “stupid, ridiculous and false.”

So why in the world would anyone pretend to be pregnant?

Well, the publicity that stars get after the big announcement is priceless and often just what they need to give their career a sudden boost.

However, Beyonce is one of the most popular and well-known celebrities in Hollywood. It’s doubtful that she would lie about something as huge as becoming a mother for more limelight.

Furthermore, the extreme measures she’d have to go to to make sure she always looked “in the family way” — measuring correctly for her due date, making sure the bump was growing (and not oddly collapsing), setting up doctor or midwife appointments, hospital visits, acting out food cravings, etc. — would seem way too much to keep track of.

That’s the thing about lying. Liars always have to remember exactly what it was they said or did so as to keep their story straight. This story seems, as Beyonce’s publicist stated, absolutely “ridiculous.”

Then again, stranger things have happened.

And Beyonce wouldn’t be the only star who’s hired a surrogate to carry her child. Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman did the same with their second child, Faith Margaret, although they kept the entire process completely under wraps until their daughter was born.

It’s hard to believe anyone would stoop so low as to fake a pregnancy for publicity, although the footage does look rather odd.

Have you seen the video of Beyonce’s baby bump blooper? What do you think: real or fake?
