Hilary Scott says it’s “so wrong” to look like you’ve never had a baby

Hilary Scott says picking a name for her summer baby wasn’t as easy as she anticipated. “She had probably been out of the womb 20 to 30 minutes before we decided for sure. After she was born, I was looking at Chris going, ‘What’s her name?!’” she says. “Once he said it, then I knew. I had felt that all along, but I needed him to feel it too,” Scott said in an exclusive interview for “People.” Hillary Scott Eisele Kaye PEOPLE photosJOSEPH LLANES “We love how it sounds kind of musical, it has a sing-song sound to it. It floats in a pretty, musical way,” Scott says of daughter Eisele Kaye’s name, a play on both hers and Tyrrell’s mother’s names. Scott says her husband “isn’t afraid of anything” and is a “very hands on” dad. “Just when I thought I couldn’t love him more, I love him more every day!” She gushed. Sharing diaper duty can do that for a mom! But while watching her husband be a great father to their baby girl was maybe no surprise to Scott, her post-baby body-and the pressure she felt to get back into shape-was. “There’s so much pressure on new moms — especially who are in the public eye — to get back into shape as soon as possible, which translates to, ‘As soon as possible, look like you were never pregnant or had a baby,’” she explains. “The women who get there the fastest are celebrated like it’s an accomplishment. I think that is so wrong and sends such a bad message to young women.” Scott goes on to say, “That pressure really forced me to take a deep breath and accept and embrace me for me, which is always a work in progress, but more important now that I have a daughter.” A daughter who will no doubt look up to her mother not only for the amazing talent she possesses, but for her strength, class, and ability to celebrate womanhood in all it’s stages.
