Modern Family actress Sofia Vergara is taking a lot of flack for her choice to stand on a rotating pedestal at the Emmy Awards Monday night.

This was supposed to be a tongue-in-cheek bit about how no one listens to the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences President Bruce Rosenblum. Vergara was urged to stand on the spinning circle while Rosenblum gave a speech. Pretending to protest, the actress feigned annoyance and then showed off her-ahem-assets to the crowd in her stunning white form-fitting gown to the sound of cat-calls, cheers, and chuckles from the audience.

And the Twitter world goes wild!

Katie Couric tweeted, “I love @SofiaVergara but did anyone find that schtick somewhat offensive?”

@margeincharge responded with, “Is this just a bit about Sofia Vergara’s body? Unsubscribe.”

Not everyone shared the same opinion.

@crislopezg tweeted, “I am bothered that everyone crying over the objectification of Sofia Vergara forgot she HAS the agency to step on that pedestal.”

Others thought it was humorous and that everyone needs to learn how to take a joke-including the actress herself.

When asked if she thought the sketch was simply objectifying women or offensive, Vergara responded with a quick, “I think it’s absolutely the opposite.” According to ET online, “it means someone can be hot and also be funny and make fun of herself and enjoy and work and make money, so I absolutely think it’s ridiculous. And somebody who started this, and I know who she was, has no sense of humor and should lighten up a little bit!”

Did you catch the awards? What did you think of Vergara’s choice to stand on the pedestal? Funny, or anti-feminist?
