Kelly Ripa doesn’t care if her kids like her.

On a recent visit to the Wendy Williams Show, Ripa explained why.

“She recently lost her computer and phone privileges, so it’s like taking away oxygen,” Ripa said. Lola, Ripa’s daughter, broke the house rules of no tweeting or texting during study time.

“I don’t think she likes me, but I don’t care,” Ripa said. “I’m like, ‘I’m not your friend! I’m your mom.'”

Ripa said she isn’t about to change her mind, even if it makes her daughter mad.¬†“I just feel like an obligation, as her mom, to keep her living in the real world,”

Some of the hosts of Today weighed in on Ripa’s statement.

“To be friends suggests that you’re equals, and you don’t want to have that relationship,” Savannah Guthrie¬†said. “Somebody’s got to be the parent.”

Carson Daly disagreed.

“I want them to look up to me and like me, so they can emulate the things I do,” he offered.

As for Al Roker, he said, “”I’m not your friend; I’m your father.”
