I love hearing about a celebrity who is embracing motherhood. Recently Blake Lively posted a pic to Instagram of her breastfeeding (don’t worry, it’s modest!) her baby in Bangkok near a beautiful waterfall-with rice in her hair.
“The PERKS of breastfeeding,” she posted. “#YesThatsRiceInMyHair #BlondevsBronde #BrondeJamesBronde.”
“Bronde” referring to her new shade of hair, a mix between blonde and brown that is apparently just as newsworthy as her baby girl James.
I love that Blake is making nursing her baby no big deal. Then again, it shouldn’t be, right??
I recently came across a hilarious video on YouTube entitled “4 Reasons Women Should NEVER Breastfeed in Public.” It’s a sarcastic opinion on how ridiculous we sometimes view breastfeeding: something other than completely normal, healthy, and necessary.
I always wear a cover-up or bring a blanket when I breastfeed for privacy. But honestly? There have been so many times I have wished I didn’t have to worry about what other people would think, or that breasts weren’t associated with such sexual connotations. It would be so much more convenient for everyone if they were viewed as simply a way to for women to feed their children.
