Angelina Jolie has always been someone to push the envelope. But it was her encouragement of this to kids at Nickelodeon’s 28th Annual Kids’ Choice Awards that had some raising eyebrows. “When I was little, like Maleficent, I was told that I was different. And I felt out of place — too loud, too full of fire, never good at sitting still, never good at fitting in,” she … Continue reading»

How does one decide to leave the biggest boy band in the world? One Direction’s Zayn Malik the “naughty boy” announced via Facebook on March 24 that he would be leaving the band to be a “normal 22-year-old.” “My life with One Direction has been more than I could ever have imagined,” he said. “But, after five years, I feel like it is now the right time for … Continue reading»

Photo courtesy   I have a few reality TV shows that I can’t wait for each season. ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars” has been one of them. Last night as my husband and I were making last minute St. Patricks’s Day preparations (gold coin treasure hunt, leprechaun footprints, green pee pee in the potty…with food dye, of course) we turned the show on, excited to see (well, … Continue reading»

¬†(KENOSHA NEWS PHOTO BY KEVIN POIRIER)   At a middle school in Wisconsin, there is a gym affectionately named, “D’s House.” Desiree Andrews has Down Syndrome, and is a cheerleader for¬†Lincoln Middle School. She has fierce support from students and staff alike, and this was shown in full force last week when a bully from another middle school began making fun of D as she took the court … Continue reading»

Is having two Bachelorette’s “degrading?”

Well, for those poor souls addicted to reality TV such as “The Bachelor”, there was a “shocking” announcement Monday night. “For the first time in Bachelor history, we will have TWO Bachelorette’s!” Host Chris Harrison gleefully exclaimed. I was a little confused as to how that would play out, but I guess on the premier of “The Bachelorette” contestants Kaitlyn and Britt will both be choices for the … Continue reading»

Russell Brand is maybe one of the last people you’d expect to discuss the negative effects of pornography. But in a short clip for his YouTube channel, Brand brilliantly describes all the ways the media has it wrong. “There’s a general feeling, isn’t there, in your core if you look at pornography that says, ‘This isn’t what’s the best thing for me to do,’ and ‘This isn’t the … Continue reading»

Last night on the Tonight Show, host Jimmy Fallon played a game with “The Voice” coach and superstar, Christina Aguilera called “Wheel of Musical Impressions.” They both had the crowd roaring with laughter, but when Aguilera was challenged to mimic fellow Micky Mouse Club star Britney Spears, they all but lost it. SPOT on.

Lady Gaga wowed-in a good way!-at Oscars

Lady Gaga is best known for her crazy outfits and performances that go way beyond pushing the envelope. But on Sunday night, Gaga gave what I think will be one of her most memorable performances. As a tribute to Julie Andrews, Gaga sang a beautiful medley from the classic film, “The Sound of Music.” I’ve always said Lady Gaga was incredibly talented. But in the past, she let … Continue reading»

Big Grammy night

The Grammy awards aired Sunday, February 8 and boasted some amazing performances. One of my favorites was Ariana Grande’s “Just a Little Bit of Your Heart.” Usually performing upbeat, fast and sassy songs, Grande toned things down for a ballad that was still incredibly powerful and moving. I liked this song because you got to hear her amazing voice without so much production behind it. The “Best New … Continue reading»

Everything has its season

The other day I watched this amazingly beautiful music video by my good friend, Sandra Turley entitled “Every Season.” It not only spoke to me musically, but also in a very deep and profoundly emotional way. Right now, I am in my winter. We have had some hard trials come upon our little family, and there have been days where I have doubted the cold, black season will … Continue reading»
